Activities |
The National Budget
Group is an alliance of nine NGOs working on budget issues: the economic magazine "Expert", the
Economic Research Center (see below), the Public Finance Monitoring
Center (see below), the group Debate in Civil Society, the Economic
Innovation Center, "Intellekt" Public Union, the Center for Economic and
Business Research and Education, the Free Economy Center, and the Union
of Sumgait Students.
The projects of the
NBG include:

Transparent budget
library.

Monitoring funds
for social
spending at the state level.

Increasing skills
and knowledge of NBG members and establishing a professional budget
training team.

Promoting public
participation for transparency in education.

Teaching budget
concepts and other issues of public interest.

Budget monitoring
of construction projects, i.e. highways.

Monitoring
subsidies to regions.

Promoting public
awareness and participation in the budget process amongst youth.

economic knowledge/awareness in Azerbaijan. AYE is a non-governmental organization founded
by graduates of the Azerbaijan State Economic Institute and registered as a public

| Major Current Activities |
The Association of Young Economists and the
Union of Economist Journalists held the training "Budget process and civil
society", from 16 to 18 May 2003, together with the International Budget Project
financed by the Eurasia Foundation and the Open Society Institute. |
