Research papers in Economics (RePEc) — RePEc is a group working on the provision of data about academic economics. We believe that joining forces is a good thing because we can learn from each other how to do things better and promote our work together.

New Economic Papers (NEP) — sponsored by the RePEc group of over 100 archives, who supply information on over 1,000 working paper series and journals in Economics. Includes recent economic research. The site has a number of relevant topics like development economics and public finance.

World Bank papers and web resources — On-line papers, working papers, and web resources listed by topic available through the World Bank.  The World Bank's Public Expenditure Online site is an excellent resource.  For a chronological listing of policy working papers, see the Master List.  Abstracts are available for these papers, and links to the full text can be found for many reports under the abstract.  Viewing some papers will require that you first download Adobe Acrobat Reader.  For a more complete listing of World Bank publications, see World Bank Documents (below).

World Bank Documents — Over 14,000 searchable documents available from the World Bank, including working papers.

United Nations Databases — Various databases, including economic and social statistics.

The UN's "Infonation" — Allows easy cross-country comparison of basic social indicators, geographic, and economic information.

Penn World Tables — Detailed economic statistics and time series for most nations.

IMF Publications and Papers — Searchable database of papers available through the IMF.

IMF staff country reports — Some budget information and a variety of statistical and economic information. Full texts available, but different sorts of data are available for different countries.  Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.

IMF Data Dissemination Standards Bulletin — Contains standardized economic data for 17 countries that have agreed to IMF standards of data dissemination.  When viewing the country list, countries that are italicized have made their data available online.

CIA World Fact Book — Geographic, demographic, political, economic, technological, and military information on each country.

Handbook of International Economic Statistics — Published by the US Central Intelligence Agency, this online handbook has many tables and charts with detailed information on trade, production, and other economic statistics for most nations.  Data is standardized to allow for international comparisons.  Click on the Index box to view contents.

OECD Documents — Includes links to numerous reports on a variety of subjects.  Viewing some papers will require Adobe Acrobat Reader.

OECD Statistics — Variety of economic and other statistics for OECD member countries.

Central Statistical Offices — The government central statistical office (CSO) is often the most comprehensive source of information in many countries. This page, from the Irish CSO, lists links to these and other statistical resources in many countries.

Eldis — Eldis is a Gateway to Information Sources on Development and the environment. A comprehensive, well-structured site with good search engine.

Index to statistics and datasets — The Eldis site provides good links to a number of statistical sources and related organizations.

Address Directory for Politicians of the World — Index of addresses of major political leaders in most countries.

Financial Times — Online daily newspaper providing global business news and analysis.

The Economist — Online weekly news magazine featuring analysis of foreign affairs and economic issues.

BBC News — Continually updated international news.
