-Text Only Browsing

Why might I want to view this web site in text-only mode?

The pages on this web site will appear more quickly on your computer screen when viewed in text-only mode. Some users with "slow" internet access may find this particularly important.

How do I set my computer to work in text-only mode?

To view this site text-only,  you need to change the settings on the internet browser on your computer to not automatically download images. The way to do this differs across browsers,  so you need to check the "help" information for your browser. As an example of how to do this:

  • in Netscape Navigator (4.0): select from the top navigation bar: "edit", "preferences", "advanced", then un-click "Automatically load images".
  • in Internet Explorer (4.0): select from the top navigation bar: "view", "internet options", "advanced", and un-click "multimedia/show pictures".

What will I loose in text-only mode?

The International Budget Partnership  web site has been designed to be fully functional for text-only users, with all navigation and nearly all key content in text format. In text-only mode you will not see the images in the page banners or various photographs and figures used on the site. However, these images are generally not essential to the content or navigation of the site.

What if I want to view an image or a graphic while I am in text-only mode?

There may be certain graphs and tables on this web site do contain valuable information and are "images" that you will not see -- initially -- in text-only mode. You can still view these images. You must  "right click"  your mouse on the image, then select "view image".  (This approach will differ by   browser -- consult your browser's "help" feature.)

Alternatively - you can temporarily re-set your browsers to display images when if you run across a key image you'd like to see. (See above "How do I set...?)
