CGD was formed in 2000 to analyze and strengthen good governance in Burkina Faso through the promotion of lawful practices, citizen participation, and democracy. CDG also promotes the political participation of women and a healthy political and electoral system. CDG focuses on identifying and securing opportunities for greater budget transparency and civil society involvement in the budget process and PRSP monitoring.

Major Current Activities

  • Research on resources allocated by the state and the two main cities of Bobo-Dioulasso and Ouagadougou to fight malaria, meningitis, and illiteracy in 2006
  • Research on the impact of budget choices made by the state and the two main cities of Bobo-Dioulasso and Ouagadougou concerning fight against malaria, meningitis, and illiteracy on people and vulnerable groups (poor, women, and children) during a survey in some key cities
  • Policy proposals to improve the choices operated by the state of Burkina Faso and the authorities of Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso
  • Dissemination of the research findings by a public restitution followed by radio broadcasts through the national radio channel
  • Advocacy meetings between the CGD and public authorities, ministries, and the towns of Bobo-Dioulasso and Ouagadougou to introduce CGD's research findings
