The National Center for Economic Research (CIEN) is a private, nonpartisan, nonreligious nonprofit association founded in 1982. The mission of CIEN is to impel better conditions of living for the people through the technical study of economic and social problems at national and regional levels. CIEN conducts economic and social research related to foreign trade, macroeconomics, exchange rate policy, fiscal policy, public expenditure, deregulation and privatization, infrastructure, evaluation of public investment projects, financial system, environment, education, employment, health housing, social security, decentralization, poverty, violence, and corruption.
