PesaCheck is a fact-checking initiative to verify the accuracy of financial and other statistical numbers quoted by public figures across East Africa. PesaCheck is a joint initiative of Code for Africa, through its local Code for Kenya chapter, and the International Budget Partnership Kenya, in partnership with a coalition of local media organisations, with additional support from the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ).
Uraia Trust is a charitable trust, which works in the areas of civic education, civic engagement and institutional transformation. Uraia’s vision is to build an informed, empowered and democratic nation. Uraia does this by facilitating the development of an engaged citizenry through the provision of quality civic education that enables Kenyans to realize their constitutional aspirations. Uraia’s Key Focus Areas for 2016-2020 are entrenching constitutionalism, promoting free and fair elections, addressing the historical political marginalization of women, youth, persons with disabilities, marginalized and minority groups, and promoting internal excellence. Uraia works in Kenya through civic educators, implementing partners at the national and county level and the media. Uraia Trust also collaborates with the Government of Kenya at both the national and county level.
Institute of Public Finance (IPF-Kenya) is a nonprofit agency that aspires to further the ideas of open public finance management systems through research, training and capacity strengthening in public finance. The Institutes transparency and accountability work on budget work cuts across all the various spheres of public finance with a strong focus on women and people living with disabilities in Health, Education and Agriculture thematic areas.
The Center for Innovations in Open Governance (CIOG) is an education and research social venture. The enterprise is a non-profit making entity that believes in transformation of citizens’ lives through effective management of public finances, with strong focus on health, water/sanitation and agriculture sector budgets. It was established in Kenya in 2017 to provide a platform for strategic partnerships and capacity development of stakeholders in the public sector.
